Behind the Skies, Under the Seas.

£135.00
Sold

Saturday 7th June 2025

10-4pm

Delgatie Castle, Turriff

The sky is a remarkable canvas that invites contemplation of the layers and depths of colour it displays throughout the day

It’s exactly how I think of the sky and the sea and this workshop is about capturing the layers and depths in both.

The first thing I do in a painting is the sky. It sets the tone for the piece and fires up my imagination. When I come to the sea, the light and colour that I have used in the sky is often there for me to reveal. I’ll show you how in the workshop.

Over the years I have worked in both acrylic and oils but I now find myself always reaching for the oils to create skies. The ability to blend and add nuances of colour is such a joy. The sea has so many layers of colour too and we will work to combine the best of both worlds with acrylics and oils .

I’ll be demonstrating and working with you throughout the day, discussing underpainting , complementary colours and composition.

The morning will focus on the sky and the afternoon the sea and foreshore.

All materials and canvas will be provided, all you need to do is arrive ready to have a lovely creative day.

Refreshments of morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea will also be provided thorughout the day by the team at the castle.

Please note this course is suitable for those who have some experience in painting.

An email will be sent out one week before the course with further information .

Please read full details + terms below before booking.
