Exploring the World of Oils

Two days playing with oil based media. What a joy !

We worked with traditional oils, water-soluble, alkyd oils and oil and cold wax. It really was a try before you buy session, a great chance to have a go with the media and work out which ones we really liked best. In the end most of us stuck with the traditional oils to which we added cold wax , glazes , mediums.

We also had a chance to try out oil bars and discussed how and when we would use them.

The fun started wen we experimented with different surfaces and used spray paints as an underpainting. Neon pink and orange to create a fantastic splash of colour in the sky then carefully covered with oils, so much fun.

Day 2 included working with glazes and seeing exactly how a glaze can lift a painting from ordinary to extraordinary. So many tips and tricks along the way and the outcome for everyone was they were no longer mystified by the nature of oil paints. The fear of oil paint was gone!

Have a look below at some of the fantastic work that was produced during the course and take a moment to read the reviews , especially if you are considering taking the course when it runs again in May - details to follow, please sign up for a newsletter to get all the details when I send out the information.

This workshop was exactly the therapy I needed! Loved every second of it , Thank you ,

Jane

Thank you Jane . We had another productive fun day! You make it all look so easy.

Carole.

Jane , you cured my “fear of oil painting”. I enjoyed every moment even the sliding smooth boards. It was wonderful to paint with likeminded ladies and I’m looking forward to the next texture course. I’m now an oil convert and have found my style of painting.

Cheryl

Thank you so much Jane for such a fabulous and informative day. I have learned so much from young and can’t wait to carry on exploring and painting with oils. Already looking forward to you next workshop in April.
